Six Months At The Grove

My Harp At The Grove

It’s been a while since I wrote here on my blog, so I figured what better time than six months since I started working at the Grove. I can’t quite believe how quickly the time has gone, I am midway through my second contract already!

I started on September 17th 2018. I remember feeling so nervous, but I needn’t have worried. The Lounges manager, Aleks, was very welcoming. Everybody who works there is friendly, thoughtful, and I feel very lucky to work beside these people. What a great team!

It has been amazing, having so much playing work. My stamina has increased again, so that it is as strong as it was when I worked on the ship. I have had some complaints, in my fingers, my shoulders, and I get back pain on the daily. But I have increased the amount of yoga and stretching I do, which seems to have made a huge difference. Regarding having any sort of therapy, I did have a couple of Alexander Technique lessons, which are great for musicians, but I was struggling with finding the time.

I am really enjoying the music I play, and I love it even more now that I have a lot of new music. I think I have near enough fifteen hours of music. One thing I hate is repeating songs, so to have enough music for five days a week is great. I have always worried about that, especially because I don’t want my colleagues to get fed up of my music. I am a huge fan of learning new pieces, so please do leave a comment below with any suggestions. It would be much appreciated!

I have also bought myself a new dress. It was an amazing find in the January sales. It was the colour that won me over, a dusky pink, which suits the lightness of the lounges beautifully.

Anyway, I wanted to update you all on what is happening in my world. Lots more playing!

Thank you for reading and remember to leave a comment with a new song suggestion! :)
