My Self Care Routine

Blossom Tree

For musicians, It is very important to look after our bodies. We are using them constantly while we play our instruments, whether it be with our hands or our lungs. As a harpist, I generally have problems in my arms and hands, but I have quite bad shoulders too.

Running Views

I find the best thing to so is yoga, but I don’t like to do it every single day. I do tend to do yoga twice a week, and the rest of the week I like to go for a run, or do a hiit workout. At the weekend, I will go to the gym with my sister.

Working Out

As mentioned in a previous post, I have to wear lots of pretty dresses and make an effort with my appearance. It can quite hard on my skin, to wear make up every day, so I make sure I wash it properly every morning and evening, and have at least one make up free day a week. My favourite products are mostly from Neals Yard Remedies. I bought their eye gel recently, and it is working really nicely on my skin.

Because of the nature of my job, I can end up having quite long days. Most days I don’t finish teaching until 8pm but I am very lucky to have a man in my life who makes sure dinner is ready when I’m done. Eating healthily is very important too, I definitely notice the difference in my energy levels. And I like to try and get 8 hours sleep every night.

While I’m playing at a gig, I always get very thirsty, so I always make sure I have water close at hand. I am mostly looked after very well, but I have played at some venues where the staff have made me feel like a CD player. I also make sure I drink water while I’m driving, and have a glass of water with every meal.

Healthy Food

During my down time, my partner and I enjoy watching series, or going to the cinema, and we both like to read for about 30 minutes before we fall asleep. I find all these things really help me to relax and forget about work for a short while.

Resting Place

Whatever you, make sure you spend time for yourself. Look after you, take yourself out to see some nature, watch your favourite show, do a face mask once a week! I hope you have all had a lovely Easter weekend.
